Two oranges, three bananas and four apples cost Rs.15. Three oranges, two bananas

Linear Equations

Two oranges, three bananas and four apples cost Rs.15. Three oranges, two bananas and one apple cost Rs.10. I bought 3 oranges, 3 bananas and 3 apples. How much did I pay?

  1. Rs 8
  2. Rs 10
  3. Rs 12
  4. Rs 15

Answer

Let O, B and A be the price of 1 orange, 1 banana and 1 apple respectively.

2O + 3B + 4A = 15

3O + 2B + 1A = 10

Adding two equations to get

5O + 5B + 5A = 25

3O + 3B + 3A = 15

The correct option is D.
