Find a relation between x and y if the points A(x, y), B(–4, 6) and C(–2, 3)

Geometry (C10)

Find a relation between x and y if the points A(x, y), B(–4, 6) and C(–2, 3) are collinear.

Answer

A, B, C are collinear.

⇒ ar (∆ABC) = 0

∴ 1/2 × [x(6 – 3) – 4(3 – y) – 2(y – 6)] = 0

⇒ 3x + 2y = 0
