What would be the readings of the ammeter and the voltmeter when key is closed? Give reason to justify your answers.

Answer

R = R₁ + R₂ + R₃

R = 5 Ω + 8 Ω + 12 Ω = 25 Ω

V = 6 V

V = IR

∴ I = V/R

= 6 V / 25Ω = 0.24 A

Hence, Current through 12 Ω resistance is A = 0.24 A.

V = IR = 6 A × 12 Ω / 25

= 2.88 V
