In Figure, ABCD is a square with side 2√2 cm and inscribed in a circle. Find the area of the shaded region. (Use π = 3.14)

### Answer

BD^{2} = (2√2)^{2} + (2√2)^{2}

BD^{2} = 16

BD = 4 cm

∴ Radius of circle = 2 cm

∴ Shaded area = Area of circle – Area of square

= 3.14 × 2^{2} − (2√2)^{2}

= 12.56 – 8

= 4.56 cm^{2}
